December 20th 2017 Day 2

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2) 
Today we watched a 6 part video, that explained the history of the Hudson's Bay Company as well as the North West Company. We will be discussing this and the end of Chapter 4 tomorrow. 

Études Sociales  9F( Block 3 & 5) 
Today students wrote their chapter 3 quiz. We then had a little potluck and Secret Santa exchange. We will be starting Chapter 4 in January.

Social Studies 7B (Block 6 & 7) 
Today we finished watching a 6 part video, that explained the history of the Hudson's Bay Company as well as the North West Company. We then discussed how the differences between these two companies. This ended chapter 4. We will be reviewing this chapter in January and writing a short quiz.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8) 
Today we watched a portion of a 6 part video that explained the history of the Hudson's Bay Company as well as the North West Company. We will be discussing this and the end of Chapter 4 tomorrow.

December 19th 2017 Day 1

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3) 
Today we discussed how the French government controlled the Fur Trade in Canada, and who controlled everything on the English side.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2 & 8) 
Today we discussed how the French government controlled the Fur Trade in Canada, and who controlled everything on the English side.

PE 8EF ( Block 4 & 5)
Today we played an game of Castle pool and then we processed to start the Handball Unit game play evaluations.

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7) 
Many students did not bring their supplies to start working on their inventory today..... which was expected so we had a treat and watched the beginning of the movie Narina! DO NOT forget your supplies in January!!

December 18th 2017 Day 6

PE 8EF ( Block 1) 
Today we played handball. This will be out last week with our Handball unit. Students will be evaluated on their game play on Tuesday and Thursday.  We will start Basketball in January.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5)
Today students handed in their Charter of Rights and Freedoms of ELJHS projects. They then had the time to study for their upcoming chapter 3 quiz on Wednesday December 20th 2017.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 4) 
Today we discussed how the Fur trade was the base to the Economy in New Franc and North America.

Leadership 7 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today we had 40 minutes to work on our Mapping my Path assignment. This will be due after the break but student may hand them in before if they are finished. We then continued on discussing what it means to Challenge the Process.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 8)
Today students wrote their First Chapter 4 Quiz. These marks will be up on Power School this week.

PE 8EF ( Block 1) 
Today we played hand ball in the large gym. Tomorrow is our last Fitness class of 2017, it will be a sweat challenge!

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3 & 4)
Today students used these block to study for their upcoming quiz on Monday December 18th 2017.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 5) 
Today we continued to work on our Chapter 3 Project. We have 2 more block tomorrow. This project is Due Monday. Students will also receive a study guide tomorrow for their Quiz on Wednesday December 20th 2017.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7) 
Today students used these blocks to study for their upcoming quiz Tomorrow Friday December 15th 2017.

December 12th 2017 Day 2

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 2)
Today we started Chapter 4: Competition for Trade. We discussed the Key players, and what roles the first nations had in helping the Europeans during the Fur Trade. Students will be getting a study period tomorrow to study for our short quiz on Friday.

** Students that were away on the Out Door ED Field Trip were given their packages with the fill in the blanks filled in for them. They are asked to complete the slides about the Three Key Players and the Roles of the First Nations Women for Homework.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5)
Today students worked incredibly hard on their Charter of Rights and Freedoms of ELJHS project. These are due on December 18th 2017. I am looking forward to reading them!

Social Studies 7B ( Block 6 & 7) 
Today we started Chapter 4: Competition for Trade. We discussed the Key players, and what roles the first nations had in helping the Europeans during the Fur Trade. Students will be getting a study period Thursday to study for our short quiz on Friday.
Students who did not finish the ``Women of the First Nation : Another Perspective`` activity need to finish that for homework. 


Social Studies 7D ( Block 8)
Today we started Chapter 4: Competition for Trade. We discussed different perspectives on the first contacts as well as what the Barter system is ( in French le système du Troc). We will be continuing this tomorrow.

December 11th 2017 Day 1

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 1 & 3) 
Today we finished watching Pocahontas. The film showed very clearly the interactions with the British Explorers had with the First Nations. Students were asked to complete a booklet of questions for bonus marks. These can be handed in tomorrow or Wednesday.  We will be starting Chapter 4 tomorrow.

Social Studies 7B ( Block 2 & 8)

Today we played Handball in the South Gym and then we moved to the north gym and started practicing our Basketball skills. There will be no class on Wednesday due to the Celebration of Success assembly.

DIY 8 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today I forgot half of the supplies to make the coasters! We will be starting theses on Friday instead. Today we looked at the 4ps of Marketing and students were asked to create a paper advertisement for their company, such as flyers, posters, brochures, mini billboards etc

December 8th 2017 Day 6

PE 8EF ( Block 1)
Today was friendly Friday. We play a new game called mats. It was a variation of a dodge ball game. We will be doing Ringnette and Handball on Monday.

Social Studies 9F ( Block 2 & 5)
Today we review activity 2 together in class. We then started our CCDL project. Students are asked to create their own Charter of Rights for our School. This project is due on December 18th 2017.

Social Studies 7G ( Block 4)
Today we finished watching Pocahontas. Students were asked to complete their film workbook for Tuesday. We are starting Chapter 4 - Competition for Trade on Tuesday.

Leadership 7 ( Block 6 & 7)
Today students continued working on their Values Analogies. These were presented in the form of Bumper stickers. These are due on Wednesday. Students who did not finish their leadership interview are also asked to have these done by Wednesday.

Social Studies 7D (Block 8)
Today we started watching Pocahontas. This film shows very well some of the first interactions of the British explorers and the First Nations people. It ties in nicely with the Chapter that we just finished.
We will continue this on Monday!

December 4th 2017 Day 3

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 4) 
Today we wrote the chapter 3 test. Student also had time to mark these in class. This test will NOT be on the Term 1 report cards as marks were due early this morning. They will be entered later in the week.

PE 8EF  (Block 2)
Today we continued with our Handball Unit. This will continue all of December.

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3) 
Today we reviewed for our chapter 3 test. This test is Tomorrow. Marks will be posted later this week, but will not appear on the term 1 report card. Review material is on classroom.

Leadership 7 ( Block 6 & 7) 
Today we discussed how to Model the Way. Students learnt what values are as well as what they value most. Students also handed in their Leadership Interviews. Student were give a few extra days to complete if necessary.  These will be marked and entered into Power School by the end of the week.

- Today in our first block, students worked on Activity 1 on Classroom. In our second class, they had a Pop Quiz!! We then had a great class discussion about their Activity and were introduced to our first homework for this chapter. This needs to be handed in by our class on Tuesday. Have a great long weekend!

- Today was their last blocks to finish up their Magazine Projects. These are to be handed into Miss Gabert Tomorrow!

- Today we played Ringette. Students were enjoying themselves so much so we played it for both blocks!

Today we made lotion bars! Students were sent home with the recipe. We will be packaging these next Thursday. The rest of the class was spent working on their business plans. These will be printed and sent home for approval next week. Some of the business ideas are looking great!

Today we continued playing Handball. Tomorrow is our double we will be playing Ringette ( Miss Gabert will be instructing) first Block and Handball in the second block.

Today we discussed  the contents of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and why it is important. Students completed the first activity on classroom.

Today was the LAST CLASS to work on their Magazine Projects. These need to be handed to Miss Gabert NO LATER than November 30th 2017.

Today we worked on Defining Leadership. Students participated in 3 different activities that help them to understand what leadership means. Students were asked to complete a Interview assignment for next class, Monday December 4th 2017. A copy of this assignment was given to each student but can also be found on the Leadership 7 Google Classroom ( adxe1bm )

Today we continued working on the Magazine Project. Students have 2 more block to work on this again tomorrow. This assignment is due to Mlle Gabert NO LATER than November 30th 2017.

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 1 & 8)
Today students worked on their Monde en March in our first block together. This is due on November 30th 2017. Last block we started Chapter 3, Individual Rights and Freedoms. Students discussed what the difference between a right and a freedom was, as well as what exactly is the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. (CCDL in French)

PE 8EF ( Block 2)
Today we were in the fitness room. Tomorrow we will be playing Hand Ball.

Social Studies 7G (Block 3 & 4)
Students continued working on their Magazine projects! They are looking great!! 7G will have one more period to complete these projects. They are due no later than November 30th 2017.

Today we un-molded and packaged our SOAP! They turned out great! Students then started work on their business plans. These plans will be presented to me and their Parents ( financiers) before students are allowed to start production of their product/services.

Today we continued on our Five common practices posters. We then proceeded to do a Gallery walk and add our attributes from last class to the posters. Students then took the time to reflect on a time when they were at their personal best as a leader. This was then shared and discussed in small groups. Next class we will work on defining leadership

November 20th 2017 Day 6

PE 8EF ( Block 1) 
- Today the gym was in use so we did some Monday Morning Yoga in my Classroom! It was interesting! Well done girls! Tomorrow are going curling!!

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 2 & 5)
- Today we spent our first block learning about political cartoons from a cartoonist! The second block together was used as a study block for the test Wednesday. 


Social Studies 7G ( Block 3) 
-Today students learnt about the British explorers that discovered and helped map what is now western Canada, people like Anthony Henday, James Cook, Samuel Hearne and George Vancouver. 

Leadership 7 (Block 6 & 7)
- Today in Leadership we worked on a few things. First was a get to know you activity, students were asked to work on this for homework. We then proceeded to write a paragraph on a leader that has impacted our like (most chose their parents!), Students got into groups and discussed the leadership attributes that each leader possessed. We had a good class discussion! Students were then introduced to the Five Common Practices of Exemplary Leadership and we started work on our Poster assignment! We will continue this next class on Thursday! 

Études Sociales 7D (Block 8)
-Today students learnt about the British Colonies in North America, specifically Halifax. Students learnt what it means to be an ``active citizens``. Students also discussed how the life of the Mi'kmaq's was impacted by the creation of this colony. And what their perspective is still to this day!

November 17th 2017 Day 4

PE 8EF ( Block 1)
- Today we finished our volleyball tournament today. Students marks for this unit will be on Power School in a few days!  We will be in the Fitness Room tomorrow.

Études Sociales 7D (Block 3 & 4)
- Today we started talking about the English Colonies in Atlantic Canada. During our Second block the Students received a presentation. The Fyrefly presentation educated kids on what gender identity is.  I was very impressed with this classes behavior during this presentation they were very respectful and participated well.

Social Studies 9F ( Block 5)
-Today was a study block for our test next Wednesday.  Students are advised to complete the formative assessment questions no later than Sunday night in order to get feedback.

Social Studies 7B ( 6 & 7) 
-Today Students wrote their short Quiz. We then started taking about the English colonies in Atlantic Canada. Marks for the quiz will be up on classroom sometime this week. 7B students need to remember that when the teacher is talking it is important to listen and not talking to their neighbor, there are some classes where students are starting to be come disrespectful.

November 15th 2017 Day 3

Social Studies 7G ( Block 1 & 4) 
Today students wrote their short quiz. Marks will be up in the next few days.  After that in our second block together we started looking at the British influence in Atlantic Canada. We will be continuing this next class on Friday.

PE 8EF ( Block 2) 
Today we continued with our volleyball tournament. We will have one more day of volleyball. Tomorrow I will be assessing the girls on the volleyball game play skills during the tournament! Bring your A game Ladies!

Études Sociales 7D ( Block 3) 
Today students wrote their short quiz. Marks will be up in the next few days.

Leadership 7 ( Block 6 & 7)
- Welcome to Leadership 7!! Today was our first class, we looked at the course outline, talked about my classroom rules, we made our own LEADERSHIP rules,  we took a leadership survey. We did not have time to complete our get to know you activity we will do that next week. In our next class we will start looking at the FIVE COMMON PRACTICES of LEADERS! Please remember to bring a Duo-Tang to next class if you didn't already!

- Today students were given both periods to study for their short quiz tomorrow. This quiz is on the following topics: Mercantilism, British Interest in North America, and the 13 colonies.  Students are expected to study some more at home tonight! Review Sheet answers will be posted on classroom tonight!

Études Sociales 9F ( Block 3 & 5) 
- Today students presented their LSJPA project. Students were also handed the Chapter 2 review package and the Formative Evaluation Assignment was posted on Classroom ( Due no latter than Saturday night if you want feedback). The Mid-Unit test ( Ch 1 & 2 ) is on Monday November 20th 2017.
